You just can't download Yosemite. The spirits of John Muir and Ansel Adams are very much alive in this remarkable national park. As much deserved attention as the Yosemite valley itself receives, it is barely 5% of the size of the park as a whole.  More than 150 years ago, in 1869, young John Muir’s first breathtaking view of Yosemite motivated him to write: “We are now in the mountains, and they are in us.” I had the profound privilege of working in this natural cathedral after Dartmouth, as an assistant to Ansel Adams.  This anchored my belief that nature has healing power, and shaped my career goal of bringing the outdoors indoors.  Thank goodness it was protected and remains an oasis for all to enjoy!
