Iceland is a Nordic island nation, and offers a dramatic volcanic landscape of geysers, hot springs, glaciers and black-sand beaches.  Thingvellir National Park features canyons, caves, waterfalls and snow-capped mountains. The people are very friendly, and Americans generally have no clue about their language - thankfully, English is plentiful.  It is less flying time to reach from Dulles airport than it is to fly our west coast or to Europe!
